Bridging Perspectives
Jamie brings a valuable dual perspective to global trade management having spent 15 years as a Livingston client before joining the company in 2014. “I know, firsthand, the daily challenges, issues, and frustrations that our clients face,” he says. “And because I understand their viewpoint, I’m able to provide practical feedback about our solutions.”
With years of senior management experience at multinational companies including Comtech EF Data, Dell, and Hewlett-Packard, Jamie has deep expertise in both compliance and IT. He is focused on how data and automation can bring real value to clients and to Livingston’s own internal processes.
Of particular note, Jamie developed the Livingston Trade Optimization Study (TOS), a groundbreaking analytical tool that leverages standardized government trade data to help clients quantify potential cost savings and efficiency gains. The TOS has become instrumental in justifying many engagements by demonstrating significant ROI to C-suite decision makers.
A relentless communicator, Jamie once intended to become an art teacher. For Livingston, using training protocols, guides, and tools of his own creation, he helps new sales recruits develop compliance expertise.
Jamie’s skill set also includes:
- Trade risk assessment and optimization
- End-to-end process mapping and supply chain analytics
- Import/export compliance program development
- Trade automation design for restricted party screening, license determination, and classification
- Supply chain security reviews
On what makes client relationships successful: "Clients want to feel understood and heard. They don't need to hear how great our solutions are. They need to know that we understand their challenges."
The biggest opportunity for clients today: "The opportunity is to stay compliant. Many companies don’t, and it hurts them. Trade compliance has never been more complex. The volume of regulations, sanctions, and requirements can be overwhelming. Our role is to simplify the complexities and ensure that our clients stay compliant while focusing on their core business. These days, that’s a big advantage."
Personal interests: "I'm passionate about family, travel, art, and history. As an artist and storyteller, I bring creativity to problem-solving. My love for travel and learning about different cultures helps me connect with clients globally. Understanding history helps me advise clients about how today's decisions will shape tomorrow's outcomes."
Jamie earned a BA in art history from Arizona State University and an MBA in International Business from Western International University. He is a sought-after speaker at trade conferences and other events.
